I'd call this mixing Gold and Church!
The New York Times > Arts > Art & Design > Art Review | 'The Colonial Andes': A Melding of Spain and Peru: "The Spanish were astounded by the scores of objects (and ingots) of silver and gold and mounds of exquisite tapestries that poured in. It all equaled tens of millions in today's dollars. But they murdered Atahualpa anyway, selected a puppet ruler from the Incan aristocracy and set about subduing the larger population through the imposition of Spanish power, culture and religion. The goal, in principle, was to save native souls through conversion to Roman Catholicism; in practice, it was to extract maximum wealth at minimum expense and open new land to European immigrants. "

Yesterday in Atlanta I had an interesting visit with the fire marshal for
downtown buildings over 5 stories. Lt Level. Lt Level gets to inspect and enforce
building/fire codes in the downtown area of Atlanta. I had stayed at CNN center and asked if he ever had any trouble with all those small restaurants in the food court, mainly the vent-a-hoods. Lt Level said, "come over here in your booth and let me tell you what happened the other day."
He said they are required to have a fire drill twice a year and he inpects the drill.
After a drill the other day he called the VP's of CNN/AOL Time Warner all the big
guys and set them down to go over the drill. He said this was the most Mickey mouse fire drill I have ever seen, and do you want me to call FOX news over to
investigate this fire drill? Man they got serious. He said the quality of fire drills went up fast.
Also we talked about city unions in Atlanta. The one group you really don't want
to upset is the Sanitary Workers, they will dump your garbage in the streets and on your doorstep.
It was a great visit and he has had ZERO incidents in his area.
Prevention is the KEY!

Power of Hotwire!
I just tried to extend my stay with the front desk at the Omni in Atlanta, they said the cheapest room rate is $149. When you add 20% tax--High. We'll I'm paying $76. So I go to Hotwire: the unique aspect of Hotwire is you don't know the hotel you will get before you make the final payment. So I found a $76 per night room and bingo I'm back at the Omni for $76 vs $149.
Check out www.hotwire.com I'm a believer!
